While the larger cities of Suva and Nadi offer clothing boutiques and duty free shops, much of the shopping scene in Fiji is a laid back affair centred mostly around market stalls and village shops. Shopping hours for stores are generally 8am to 5pm during the week and until 3 on the weekends.
Duty free stores offer a wide range of goods including cameras and electronics, fragrances, alcohol, watches and jewellery. The local shops of Nadi and Suva specialise in beach and warm weather fashions, hand-made jewellery and other fun-in-the-sun products. Nearby to many of the Denarau resorts and hotels is The Port Denarau Retail Centre where you’ll find a chemist, grocery store, beachwear and souvenir shops.
For a truly Fijian shopping experience, visit the Suva Handicraft Market where you’ll find many gift and souvenir ideas. You may have to pick your way through some of the mass produced distractions but there are some lovely hand-made crafts to be found. The Handicraft Market in Nadi also features a wide selection of locally made knickknacks and gifts. For the best fruits and veggies be sure to check out any of the village fruit stands as you make your way around the islands.
